About Salsa Brisa
Salsa Brisa is run by Angela Chandler, dancer and promoter of Salsa Brisa. Angela has many years of experience promoting salsa events and running weekly classes in South East London and Kent.
Here you will find very useful information about Salsa or if your curious & thinking about joining us for the first time!
Beginners Levels 1 & 2:
We have beginners classes on each night we have running. Please wear comfortable shoes preferably with leather soles. If you're feeling a bit nervous about joining in a class, please don't be! We strive to maintain a friendly atmosphere while we instruct you in your first few steps on your way to becoming a Salsero! Bringing a partner is not essential. There is no strict dress code but we do recommend smart, casual comfortable clothing.
Improvers:
Improvers are shown more turn patterns where timing and precision for leads are emphasised for the gents. Ladies will be taught various types of styling ie, what to do with arms when they come out of a spin. Also, how to read, be flexible and relax when following the gents lead.
Intermediate / Advanced:
This is for the more progressed dancer. Intricate turn patterns are put together to help you advance in your freestyle routines.
Salsa Music:
Salsa is a fusion of music that was produced by musicians that moved to New York from Cuba, Puerto Rico, Colombia etc... in the 50's and 60's. They all brought their styles together to form Salsa!

We look forward to you joining us very soon!
Salsa Dance:
Salsa dance originates from Cuba. At the moment there are three main styles of salsa dance: Cuban Style where partners travel around each other in a circular motion.
LA Style where partners swap positions in a straight line called cross-body and danced on the one. New York Style, once again using cross-body but danced on the two - mambo - with more emphasis on shines (fancy footwork).
What Salsa style do we instruct?
Generally we instruct salsa based on the LA Style. But just like salsa means a mixture (literally means sauce) we also show and include a variety of the other styles so that your knowledge of Salsa dance will be complete!
